NORTH READING — Have you thought about writing a memoir? The Friends of the NR Council on Aging will begin its programming activities with a presentation on writing with Nancy Parsons on Monday, September 9, at 7 p.m. at the Edith O’Leary Senior Center, 157 Park St.

A North Reading resident, Parsons is an enthusiastic advocate for memoir. After a long career in advertising, she turned to writing her own material—including several memoirs—and has also published two essay collections and eight novels, Memoir, however, is her special interest.

In her interactive talk at the Senior Center on September 9 she plans to show examples of memoir and tell stories about each, with the aim of encouraging and inspiring others to think about memoir.

Nancy presently conducts classes in memoir writing at The Writers’ Learning Collaborative in Reading. As usual this Friends meeting is free and open to all ages. Come on down to the Senior Center and find out what your Friends are planning for the coming year and how we are working to augment activities at the Center.
