NORTH READING — North Reading High School junior Sucheta Srikanth has been named a 2024 Massachusetts State winner of the Aspirations in Computing High School award by the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT), which honors students for their computing-related achievements.

Award recipients are selected based on their aptitude and aspirations in technology and computing, as demonstrated by their computing experience, computing-related activities, leadership experience, and future plans. “Suchi often solves complex algorithmic problems in unique and efficient ways in our class and is able to demonstrate why her approach works to all of us. I am glad to see her aptitude for computing being recognized,” said AP Computer Science teacher, Ryan Hoffman.

“We are so proud of Suchi’s accomplishments in winning this NCWIT award and for her involvement for so many years as a mentor and coach for our younger students and their robotics teams. This opportunity to celebrate Women in Computing and to recognize Suchi with this prestigious state-level award is so well-deserved and such a positive representation of her many contributions to computing and robotics in North Reading and beyond,” said Dr. Patrick Daly, Superintendent of North Reading Public Schools.

Added Principal Anthony Loprete, “Suchi is not only passionate about technology but also actively encourages our student body to enroll in technology courses. She really is an ambassador, and not for just technology, but for a number of important issues on campus.”

Sucheta is deeply passionate about computing as a means to better understand human mind and behavior. She is experienced in multiple programming languages and recently won first place in a National Data Science competition for her AI machine learning model. Sucheta is interested in cognition and its interplay between psychology, statistics and computer science and aspires to be a behavioral scientist where she can design and analyze experiments using technology tools to better understand and predict human behavior.

The NCWIT Aspirations in Computing High School Award is sponsored by Apple, Bank of America, Microsoft, and Motorola Solutions Foundation.
