NORTH READING — Two members of the North Reading High School boys’ lacrosse team were named to the Cape Ann League Second-Team All-Stars this season.

Juniors Andrew Taylor and David Tran made the list. It is the first All-Star appearance for both players.

ANDREW TAYLOR

Taylor, a defenseman, was ranked first in caused turnovers at 2.6 per game. He was also second in ground balls, trailing only Gavin Wesley, at 4.5 per game.

“He was the anchor of our defense for the second year in a row,” said Hornets head coach Chuck Campobasso. “He would be matched up against either the opponents’ top scorer or top assist man.”

Tran went 7-12 in net with a goals-against average of 9.50. He averaged 11 saves per game.

“He made a big leap from last year to this year,” stated Campobasso. “When he started last season, he was an athlete playing goalie. This year, he became a goalie who is also a great athlete. The other league coaches also noted his improvement.”

DAVID TRAN

North Reading’s season came to an end on May 31 when they lost at Pentucket 15-8 in the first round of the MIAA Division 4 state tournament.

Overall, the Hornets finished 7-12. In the Cape Ann League, they went 5-8.
