NORTH READING — Chief Mark Zimmerman reports that the North Reading Police Department and Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) responded Friday afternoon to a barricaded subject who was wanted on an arrest warrant.

On Friday, April 5, at approximately 2 p.m., North Reading Police were dispatched to a home on Rodgers Circle for a report of a possible violation of a harassment prevention order.

North Reading Police sought and received a warrant for the violation of the harassment prevention order. When the subject refused to come out of his home police requested assistance from the NEMLEC SWAT team, which includes specially trained negotiators.

The subject was eventually taken into custody about 4:30 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital under arrest for the warrant.

“I would like to thank NEMLEC for their support and for helping us to reach a resolution in which no one was seriously injured,” said Chief Zimmerman.
