BELLA CANNALONGA

NORTH READING — The North Reading High girls’ basketball team had two Cape Ann League All-Stars selected for the 2023-24 season: senior captains Bella Cannalonga and Caitlin Reilly.

Cannalonga was selected as a First Team CAL All-Star. The senior point guard was a three-year starter, leading the Hornets in assists since becoming a starter as a sophomore. The pass-first playmaker was also a good shooter, leading the team in 3-point field goal percentage and averaging 8 points per game.

“Bella had another outstanding season as our starting point guard,” said head coach Bob Romeo. “I believe that she was the best point guard in the CAL. Her exceptional ball handling skills and ability to break a press provided a level of comfort knowing that we could successfully break a press and get into an offense.

“Bella made the players around her better with her ability to deliver passes on time and on point.”

Reilly was selected as a Second Team CAL All-Star. The senior guard averaged 9.2 points per game, leading the Hornets in scoring. Reilly also led the team in 3-pointers made, percentage steals and free throw percentage.

“Caitlin had an outstanding senior year highlighted by her career-high 29-point game in the state tournament win at Pittsfield, connecting on 8 3-point shots,” said Romeo. “Her success was the result of all the work she put into her shooting. Caitlin set a great example to our returning players that success comes with hard work.”
