LYNNFIELD — Lynnfield-North Reading co-operative wrestling captains Lucas Pascucci and Joe Morse achieved milestones during a recent meet this season.
Pascucci surpassed the 100 win career mark and has 108 career victories. He is the ninth wrestler in the program’s history to reach the century mark.
Morse became the winningest wrestler from North Reading since the co-op team was formed in 2005. Morse’s 97 victories surpassed the previous milestone set by North Reading High School Class of 2009 graduate CJ Venuto. Venuto concluded his career with 80 victories.
Victory over Peabody
The Black and Gold crushed Peabody Veterans Memorial High School 45-6 on Friday, Jan. 23. The decisive victory improved the grapplers’ dual meet record this season to 17-2.
The co-op team won eight out of the meet’s nine matches because only nine out of the 14 weight classes competed.
Sophomore Will Glover (106 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Morse (113 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 39 seconds. Junior Kai Jean-Simon (120 lbs.) defeated his opponent by fall in 3:13. Junior Max Whyman (126 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 2:07.
Senior Jake Mullin-Bernstein (132 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Pascucci defeated his opponent by fall in 2:15. Senior Garrett Anderson (145 lbs.), a spot starter, improved his dual meet record this season to 6-0 after pinning his opponent in 2:15. Anderson has won all of his matches this season by pin.
Senior Austin Bradley (182 lbs.) won his match by a 4-2 decision. Senior Brandon Troisi (285 lbs.) pinned his opponent in 58 seconds. Sophomore Vitaliy Andrusyshyn (195 lbs.) defeated his opponent by fall in 59 seconds.
Senior captain Dominic Monzione (152 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Junior Zack Monzione (160 lbs.) won his match by forfeit. Junior Max Robert (170 lbs.) won his match by forfeit.
Upcoming meets
The co-op team’s quad meet against Gloucester, Malden and Billerica on Saturday, Jan. 24 was canceled due to last weekend’s snow storm.
The Black and Gold travel to Georgetown-Ipswich on Wednesday, Jan. 28, beginning at 6:30 p.m. If the grapplers defeat the Royals, they will win the Cape Ann League title.
The co-op team will host Watertown on Friday, Jan. 30, beginning at 5 p.m.
The Cape Ann League/Northeastern Conference Tournament will take place on Saturday, Jan. 31 at Georgetown High School, beginning at 10 a.m.
