Robert-Eaves-1-6-17-webDANVERS — Robert A. Eaves, 95, of Melrose, formerly of Naples, Florida and Chelsea, died at the Brightview in Danvers on Dec. 31, 2016.

Robert was born and raised in Chelsea, and was a graduate of Chelsea High School. He resided in Chelsea for 40 years, 17 years in Naples, Florida and several years in Danvers. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.

Bob worked as an assistant director for the Chelsea Redevelopment Authority for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Sagamore Club in Chelsea and enjoyed playing cards, walking Revere Beach and was a Boston Red Sox fan. Bob was a kind and generous family man, and was so devoted to his wife’s care during her lengthy illness.

He was the beloved husband of Mary L. (Tully) Eaves for 67 years. He was the loving father of Robert A. Eaves, Jr. and his wife Karen of Maryland; and Ruth M. Cullen and her late husband Dan of Melrose. He was the caring brother of the late Thomas Eaves and his wife Irma of Revere. He was the cherished grandfather of Robert A. Eaves III, Taylor Eaves, Daniel Cullen and Sarah Scott. He was the great grandfather of Drew and Liam Cullen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours were held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose on Thursday, Jan. 5. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home will be held on Friday, Jan. 6 at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in The Church of the Incarnation, 425 Upham St., Melrose at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
