Stephen-May-Obit-webPEMBROKE, N.H. — Stephen C. May, 39, of Pembroke, N.H., formerly of California, North Reading and Illinois, died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 5, 2015.

Born in Brighton on Oct. 9, 1975, he attended school in Berwyn, Ill. and was a graduate of North Reading High School, Class of 1993. He worked as a truck and heavy equipment mechanic for E.W. Sleeper in Concord, N.H. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard.

Stephen enjoyed hiking and walking trails with his dog. He loved snowmobiling and riding dirt bikes and fishing with his brother. He also enjoyed drawing freehand pictures and designs. He loved to cook and spend time with family and friends. He especially loved his dog, Lola.

Stephen was a person who was larger than life and he touched every person he met in his own unique way, so that he was never forgotten. He was always the first one there in time of need to help anyone, especially in emergency situations. He had a strong, take–charge, blustery personality that drew people to him like a magnet. His sense of humor was the best and his bellowing loud laugh was contagious. If you were lucky enough to be his friend, it was forever.

Family members include his loving parents, Shirley A. (Deveau) May of Henniker, N.H. and Stephen O. May of Clearwater, Fla.; his brother, Michael J. May and his wife Nikki Constantino May of North Reading; his stepfather, Roy Richardson, of Henniker, N.H.; his stepsister, Daryl Martin of Haverhill; his stepbrother, Evan Richardson,of Salem, N.H.; his nieces, Serenity and Mahalia May and his nephew Michael J. May Jr., all of North Reading; his uncle Joseph Deveau and his wife Christine and his cousins, Brandon, Derek and Rianna Deveau, all of Medway.

Calling hours were held at the Croswell Funeral Home, 19 Bow St., North Reading on Friday, Oct. 9, followed by a prayer service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in his memory to the charity of one’s choice. www.croswellfuneralhome.com.
