WAKEFIELD — The Wakefield Republican Town Committee and the Wakefield Democratic Town Committee have teamed up with each other and the Event Planning Committee to sponsor a dunk tank at this year’s Festival Italia on Aug. 22. The profits raised will be donated to the Wakefield Interfaith Food Pantry. By donating to the Interfaith Food Pantry festival-goers will have an opportunity to dunk local officials and other community members.
The tank is scheduled to open at 3 p.m. and run to 7 p.m. A schedule of participants will be released later in the week. The list currently includes members of the Board of Selectmen, School Committee, Finance Committee, the respective chairpersons of the Republican and Democratic Town Committees and Town Administrator Steve Maio.
The dunk tank will be located at the corner of Main and Chestnut streets.
