STONEHAM — Susan E. (Green) Shiner, 65, passed away at the Bear Hill Nursing Center on May 14.
Susan was born in Melrose on June 3, 1950 to the late Joseph and Helen (Doherty) Green. She was raised in Melrose, graduated from St. Mary Grammar School, Melrose High School Class of 1968 and had been a lifelong resident. Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who loved children, being around people and completely cherished her grandchildren. She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed traveling to different zoos and especially liked giraffes and loved her dog Casper. Susan enjoyed spending time in Florida and gardening.
Mrs. Shiner was the beloved wife of 42 years to Charles R. Shiner. She was the loving mother of Nicole H. Shaw and her husband Michael of Saugus and Kevin J. Shiner and his wife Patricia of Peabody. She was the devoted grandmother of Ashley and Andrew Shaw and Kevin and Juli Shiner. She was the caring sister of Brother Robert Green CFX of Danvers. She was the beloved niece of Delores Doherty. She is also survived by her beloved dog Casper.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Tuesday, May 17. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home took place on Wednesday, May 18, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose. Burial will be private.
