WAKEFIELD — Thomas A. Venuti, 86, of Wakefield died April 29, 2015 at the Wilmington Health Care Center in Wilmington.
Born on Nov. 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Thomas and Laura (Hynes) Venuti.
Thomas was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He later attended Mass. Bay Community College. He was a Wakefield resident since 2001. He retired as a sergeant of the Waltham Police Department in 1975. He was a member of the Wakefield Senior Center, the Massachusetts Police Association and the Waltham Police Association.
Thomas was the beloved husband of Margaret R. (Orifice) Venuti. He was the loving father of Anthony Venuti and wife Carol of Tewksbury, Stephen Venuti and wife Dianne of Barrington, R.I.; Mark Venuti and wife Linda of Kennesaw, Ga. and Linda Rowe and her husband the late Lawrence Jr. of Wakefield. He was the brother of Marie Maguire of Florida, Katherine Pantanella of Georgia, Larayne Valente of Royalston and Colin Venuti of Florida and the late Edward Venuti and Florence Cormier. He is also survived by his 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield, on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass celebrated by his grandson The Rev. Fr. Matthew Venuti in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
