Wakefield also awarded final point in Burlington meet to make the final 45-41
BOSTON — Four members of the Warrior boys’ indoor track team competed in the Last Chance to Qualify Meet which was held Sunday at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center.
Of the four Wakefield athletes that competed, three of them qualified for states.
Jian Gallardo, a junior, ran a time 7.19 seconds in the 55 meter dash and jumped 18-0 in the long jump.
Eric Chi, a junior, qualified in the 55 meter dash with a time of 6.93 seconds.
Senior Cam Yasi qualified in the 300 meters with a time of 38.01 seconds.
Junior Rich Custodio qualified in the two mile with a 10:32.25.
“We had to make the decision to go to this meet since we knew the league meet was going to get canceled and the league did not have another day to reschedule,” said Head Coach Ruben Reinoso.
“As far as the Burlington meet is concerned we ended up getting third as well (with) Kevin Russo (at) 5.51, so the final score is 45-41. I will use (Coach Bill) Belichick’s line “We are on to States”.”

The 45 yard dash results from the Burlington meet have finally been sorted out and the Warriors were awarded the third place point making the final score of the meet, 45-41.
Junior Kevin Russo clocked in at 5.51 seconds for third place.
Taking fourth in the event was Burlington sophomore Mike Pavao who ran a time of 5.55 seconds. The fifth place finish was junior Jian Gallardo who posted a time of 5.56 seconds.
