LYNNFIELD — The girls’ soccer team is riding a four-game winning streak after securing two big victories last week.

Lynnfield (7-2-1) began last week crushing Triton 8-0 on Oct. 1, which was head coach Mark Vermont’s 300th career win.

“It’s a great accomplishment for the program,” said Vermont. “Getting 300 wins comes from the many great teams and players I have coached over the years. It’s a really cool thing for the girls on the team to accomplish.”

Vermont began coaching the Pioneers in 2001.

Sophomore forward Ava Damiani gave the Pioneers a 1-0 lead after receiving a pass from sophomore forward/midfielder Kaylee Barrett four minutes into the first half.

Senior captain/forward Bella Carroll drilled a shot eight minutes into the first half, assisted by senior captain/midfielder Clara Caulfield.

Barrett found the back of the net 10 minutes into the first half. Damiani had the assist.

Carroll scored her second goal of the contest with 12 minutes remaining in the first half, assisted by senior captain/midfielder Emma Rose.

Lynnfield maintained a 4-0 advantage at halftime.

Caulfield gave Lynnfield a 5-0 lead after scoring two minutes into the second half. Carroll and junior midfielder Bella Sykes had the assists.

Rose found the back of the net six minutes into the second half, assisted by Carroll and Damiani.

Caulfield nailed a shot with 15 minutes remaining in the game after receiving a pass from sophomore midfielder Giada Antidormi.

Carroll scored the final goal of the contest with 14 minutes remaining in the game, assisted by Barrett.

“Bella came up big for us with the hat trick and the two assists,” said Vermont.

Sophomore goalie Victoria Minor tallied three saves in net against the Vikings.

Vermont said the Pioneers played very well against Triton.

“Our defense was very solid and did a nice job shutting down Triton,” said Vermont. “I thought Clara and Giada both played very well for us.”

Clips Newburyport

Lynnfield defeated Cape Ann League rival Newburyport 1-0 on Oct. 3.

The first half was a defensive battle between the Pioneers and the Clippers, and the game was tied 0-0 at the break.

Rose scored the game-winning goal four minutes in the second half. Carroll and Damiani had the assists.

“It was a great goal,” said Vermont. “Bella threw the ball in, Ava flicked it and Emma ran in and finished it. Emma played a great game. She did a nice job in the midfield for us.”

Minor recorded eight saves in the cage against the Clippers.

“Victoria had a really solid game in the back,” said Vermont.

Vermont said sophomore defender/midfielder Jordan Calichman played well against the Clippers.

“Jordan played pretty much the whole game,” said Vermont. “She was composed on the ball and did a good job keeping things under control.”

The Pioneers previously fell 2-1 to Newburyport on Sept. 5.
