MELROSE — As part of the city’s Veterans’ Day 2015 observance, officials plan three important announcements.

First will be the second part of renovations to the Knoll memorials.

Second will be final completion of the GAR Memorial.

Third will be this year’s Operation trip to Washington, D.C. and those who will be honored.

Also, the Melrose Veterans Memory project is hosting their annual Veterans in the Classroom event on Oct. 28. This is annually well attended with dozens of veterans and more than 100 students. Veterans ranging from our current conflicts to World War II participants will share stories with Melrose High seniors in Memorial Hall beginning at 9 a.m.

In addition, a Veterans’ Day Food Drive will be held at the Shaw’s supermarket on Essex Street on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

On Tuesday, Nov. 10, the Veterans Memorial Middle School will host its annual Veterans Breakfast and Assembly beginning at 8 a.m.

And on Veterans’ Day, Nov. 11, observance ceremonies will begin at the Honor Roll Memorial on Main Street at 10 a.m. followed by a Veterans’ Day Luncheon at the VFW Prince Post on Main Street at noon.
