NORTH READING — North Reading’s Bobby Vardaro, son of Bob and Jacqui Vardaro of 6 Darrell Dr., was picked up by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent at the end of the NFL draft Saturday night.
The Vikings picked up Vardaro at the left guard position, where he could find himself blocking for Adrian Peterson next year.
Vardaro played at Phillips Andover and Boston College, where he was a three–year starter who led the Eagles with 43 career starts. As a senior he started 11 regular season games at left guard, missing one due to injury and earned All–Atlantic Coast third–team honors and was a key member of the offensive line that produced the 14th best rushing attack in the nation.
Vardaro reports to the Vikings training camp on Thursday. He was one of four Eagles invited to NFL camps through Undrafted Free Agent deals. The others are Tyler Murphy, Josh Keyes and Manny Asprilla.
