WAKEFIELD — No injuries were reported but one vehicle had to be towed after a Wakefield woman veered off Old Nahant Road and crashed her 1996 Toyota Corolla into a utility pole at about 7:45 yesterday morning. The Light Department was called to check on the pole.

At around 9:45 a.m. yesterday, a caller reported that the outdoor sprinkler system was running at a vacant home on Aborn Avenue, causing icy road conditions. Police were unable to make contact with the homeowner and left a message with a neighbor.

An employee from Carbetta Management Company, which operates the Colonial Point Apartments at 95 Audubon Rd., contacted police yesterday morning at about 10:30 a.m. to report that a work computer and other personal items that had been left in the lobby of the building had been taken. On-site staff reviewed security camera footage and were able to identify the tenant that took the items.
Police accompanied management to the tenant’s apartment. He eventually produced a bag containing the property. He stated that people often discard unwanted items in the lobby and he just takes them.

One man was taken to MelroseWakefield Hospital and at least one vehicle had to be towed after a three-car accident yesterday afternoon at Four Corners. Police, Fire and EMS responded to the intersection of Lowell and Vernon streets at about 2:15 yesterday afternoon.
According to police, a Ford F-150 driven by a Wakefield man rear-ended a 2011 Lincoln driven by a Saugus man on Lowell Street at the intersection. Those vehicles ended up in a crash with a 2021 Toyota Tacoma driven by a Wakefield man that was on Vernon Street crossing Lowell Street.

A cyclist was taken to MelroseWakefield Hospital after an accident on Salem Street yesterday afternoon at about 3:15. The initial report stated that the bike had been hit by a car, but police later determined that no motor vehicle had been involved.

At about 7 p.m. yesterday, a pedestrian reported that she had been struck by a hit-and-run vehicle as she was crossing Centre Street in the crosswalk near Main Street. According to police, the woman suffered some ankle bruising but declined medical treatment. Several witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a gold-colored Nissan sedan. Police plan to examine nearby video camera footage.
