Enjoyed summers in New Hampshire along with painting and drawing
NEWPORT, RI — Dennis Michael McQuillen, the beloved husband of Dolly (Morton) McQuillen and father of Matthew, Erin and Kate passed away peacefully on September 3 in Newport, RI. He was born on April 8,1940 in Winthrop.
Dennis lived in North Reading for 45 years. A graduate of Northeastern University and Boston Museum of Fine Arts, Dennis pursued his passion for art and design working as an art director at Houghton Mifflin Publishers for three decades. He enjoyed summers with his wife and children in New Hampshire and his daily swims at local YMCA’s. In his retirement, he devoted himself to his love of painting and drawing, finding solace in creativity.
Dennis was the proud father of Matthew McQuillen and his wife Trish of CT; Erin McQuillen of Newport, RI; Kate McQuillen of Brooklyn, NY; his brother Brian McQuillen and his wife Lynda of Agawam; and his only grandson Miles McQuillen of Harrison, NY. He also leaves his brother-in-law Stuart Morton and his wife Carolyn of Calais, VT; as well as his nieces Samatha Jacobson, Stevia Smith and Colleen Conway. Dennis was predeceased by his brother Kevin McQuillen and his niece Adrienne Morton.
Funeral services are private.
