Avid bingo and card player

WAKEFIELD — Helen M. “Sis” Cahill, 85, formerly of Wakefield, died on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Sunrise Assisted Living in Lynnfield.

Born in Stoneham on July 28, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen (Stanaford) O’Brien.

Mrs. Cahill was a graduate of Somerville High School and was a life member of the Saugus V.F.W. She was an avid bingo and card player.

Mrs. Cahill was the wife of the late Roy J. Cahill. She was the mother of Donna Salsman of Beverly, Judy Fergus and her husband Tom of Canada, June Conroy and her fiancée John Reid of Reading and the late Nancy Cahill and Roy Cahill. Mrs. Cahill was the sister of Thomas O’Brien of Natick and the late Robert O’Brien, Charles O’Brien and Edward O’Brien. She was the grandmother of Steven and Marc Salsman, Angela Charles, Erica Kotyluc, Jaime, Kaitlyn and Thomas Furgus, Kelsie, Patrick and Trevor Conroy and Deric and Courtney Cahill. Mrs. Cahill is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Saturday at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
