Wensley, Kane, Spicer honored in Freedom division
WAKEFIELD — The Middlesex League wrestling coaches gathered recently to make this year’s all-star selections in both the Freedom and Liberty divisions.
ALEX KANE
The Warriors, the M.L. Freedom division tri-champions, had three wrestlers chosen. Seniors Dan Wensley and Alex Kane, along with sophomore Jack Spicer, were honored.
Wensley was selected at the 195 lb. weight class and was also named the Wrestler of the Year in the M.L. Freedom division.
Kane was chosen at the 285 lb. weight class and Spicer was honored at 106.
Tri-champions Burlington and Melrose both had four all-stars named. Melrose coach James Bleiler was named the M.L. Freedom division Coach of the Year and Burlington sophomore Joshua Lee was named the league’s Rookie of the Year.
Wilmington had three all-stars chosen as well to round out the list of 14 wrestlers.
In the M.L. Liberty division, Arlington had six wrestlers named league all-stars. Arlington also had the M.L. Liberty division Coach of the Year and the Wrestler of the Year.
Winchester had five all-stars, Reading had three including the Rookie of the Year and Woburn had two all-stars chosen.
