Korean War veteran, Tewksbury business owner

 

Tracy-obit_webMELROSE — William F. Tracy, 85, of Melrose, died at the Massachusetts General Hospital on Nov. 10.

Bill was born and raised in Cambridge and attended Cambridge schools. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

After returning from the war, he worked as a general manager for Scully Signal Corp. in Wilmington for 37 years before owning and operating Industrial Equipment Supply in Tewksbury for 25 years.

Bill was a member of the Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Wakefield for over 50 years and enjoyed spending his time with his children, grandchildren and friends.

He was the beloved husband of Ruth V. (Murphy) Tracy for 63 years. He was the devoted father of William Tracy and his wife Roberta of Wisconsin, Shawn Tracy and his wife Susan of Wakefield, Elizabeth Devine and her husband Kevin of Pelham, N.H. and Heather Tecce and her husband John of Tewksbury. He was the cherished grandfather of Maura, Hillary, Marissa, Thomas, Tracy and Kimberly. He was the loving brother of Phyllis Vera of Cambridge and the late Florence Pilleri. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The funeral was from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, Nov. 17, at 8:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 1155 Main St., Wakefield at 10 a.m.

Burial with Army military honors at Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
