WAKEFIELD — The West Side Social Club Fourth of July Committee is soon approaching the final days to raise money for this year’s celebration in the Town of Wakefield. And the funds are coming in very slowly.
Since there are two committees both asking for donations for the July Fourth celebration, it is no wonder that the townspeople and local businesses are not sure what they are sponsoring.
The WSSC Fourth of July Committee is responsible for the Children’s Events that take place on the morning of the Fourth. This includes the Fishing Derby, the Children’s Parades (Bicycles, Doll Carriage etc), the Running Races and the Canoe Race.
In the evening, the WSSC provides the Concert on the Common. This year, the featured band will be Rick Larrimore with his six piece band — The “Ultimate” Tribute to Rod Stewart. Also slated to perform is Wakefield’s own Natalie Joly in between sets.
All day long, a food concession stand will be in place on the Lower Common that directly funds all of these events planned for the day.
The spectacular fireworks display over the shores of Lake Quannapowitt will once again light up the night skies to add the perfect ending to a perfect day.
The West Side Social Club Fourth of July Committee can only do this if the townspeople and local businesses help to fund it. Contributions can be made payable to the WSSC Fourth of July Committee and mailed to 4 Harrington Ct., Wakefield MA 01880. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.
