WAKEFIELD — QYC still has openings in its popular Youth Sailing Program, a registered camp with the Town of Wakefield’s Board of Health. The sailing program enrolls students starting at 8 years of age and entering third grade through high school. This is a fun way to learn to sail or to improve sailing skills. The club also offer a racing program and participate in several regattas in Massachusetts.

The Camp has been running since June 23 but there still openings for Session III: 7/21-8/1; and Session IV: 8/5-8/15. The Sailing Program cost $615 per session. The Racing Program is a four week program that takes place during two sessions, in the current case III and IV ($1265).

Younger kids are learning to sail Optimists whereas the older ones will sail in Mercuries, Daysailers, or 420s. Racing students will be able to participate in regattas on the ocean. Forms can be downloaded at sailqyc.com. For further information call the Youth Sailing phone number at 339-203-9207. Note: QYC members get a reduced rate.
