MELROSE—The Melrose High boy’s basketball team celebrated their playoff-run 2024 season with an athletic banquet held at Bellevue Golf Club earlier this month with over 100 folks in attendance. 

The night was an opportunity to honor the three MHS teams’ great seasons, as the varsity team went 13-8, junior varsity went 9-9 and the freshman had a great season with a 15-2 record. 

Melrose head coach Dan Burns and his staff honored players from all teams with awards for their efforts. They included:

Most improved: Daniel Jimenez

JVA (Junior Varsity)
Coaches Award:  Daniel Tiettenen
MVP:  Connor Smith
Most improved Player: Mike Dziedziak

6th Man Award: Ben Perella
Heart Award: Connor Brophy
Floor General/Unsung Hero Award: Owen Mujalli 
Most Improved Player: Nolan Natale

The night was a chance to also name the team’s 2024-5 captains. Representing Melrose next season will be John Arens, Owen Mujalli and John Lamas.
