MELROSE — Carolyn M. (Johnson) Skaare, 67, of Melrose died at home on June 26 surrounded by her loving family.
Carolyn was born and raised in Melrose and was a lifelong Melrose resident. She was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1965.
Carolyn loved children and worked as an assistant coordinator of transportation for the Melrose School Dept.’s Parent Pupil Services for over 20 years before her retirement at the age of 55.
She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Church in Melrose and loved spending her time with her cherished grandson, Jackson.
Carolyn enjoyed camping with her family at Rand Pond in Goshen, N.H. for many years, traveling on cruises to Alaska, Panama Canal and trips to Michigan, Maryland and Las Vegas.
She was the beloved wife of Robert A. Skaare. She was the devoted daughter of the late Mary (Hunter) Johnson. She was the loving mother of Robert A. Skaare II and his wife Jessica of Maryland, Jonathan A. Skaare of California and Kathleen M. Skaare of West Newton. She was the cherished Nana of Jackson. She was the caring sister of Judith Scarinci and her husband Donald, Arthur Johnson and his wife Lorraine, all of Amesbury, the late Joanne LeBlanc and her husband Donnie of Saugus and Kathleen Johnson. She was the sister-in-law of Richard Skaare and his wife Jane of Pennsylvania. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Monday, June 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. The funeral was from the Gately Funeral Home on Tuesday at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10 a.m.
Burial was private.
