PEABODY — On Sunday afternoon, the Danvers-Lynnfield High cop-op gymnastics team defeated Essex Tech, 144.2-118.85, at Yellow Jackets in Peabody.
With the victory, the Falcons finished the regular season at 6-1 as they came in second place in the NEC-CAL behind Masconomet.
Kaylee Wescott came in first in the all-around with a total score of 38.55 as she came in first place in all four events. The ninth-grader had a 9.8 on the bars, a 9.4 on the balance beam, a 9.7 on the floor exercise and a 9.65 in the vault.
Lynnfield’s Camryn Donovan was second in the all-around with a 36.95. Donovan, a junior, placed second in three events: the bars (9.6), the beam (9.0) and the floor (9.6).
Her sister, Callie, placed third in two events as the freshman had an 8.1 on the beam and a 8.3 on the floor.
Delainy Murphy was third on the bars scoring an 8.5 while Romane Bareyre placed third in the vault with an 8.8.
“Our meet against Essex was not our best as we have been struggling to stay on the beam but the score did help our team average going into the postseason,” explained Falcons head coach Jen Habeeb. “We did have a lot of great individual performances though and season-high scores.”
Wescott and Donovan qualified for the state individuals, which will take place at Tewksbury High on Feb. 19.
