HARTFORD, Conn—Melrose native Hannah Brickley was recently inducted into the Trinity College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Brickley, daughter of George and Cindy of Melrose, is 2014 graduate of Trinity College in Hartford, CT and a 2010 graduate of Melrose High.
Eight inductees joined the Trinity College Athletic Hall of Fame, during an on-campus ceremony at the Trinity College Memorial Field House on Saturday, Oct. 26. The former Bantam Brickley was inducted after a great college career in volleyball and basketball.
Brickley was member of the women’s volleyball program at Trinity for four seasons, and the women’s basketball program for two seasons. Brickley was a two-time American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-New England selection, a three-time New England Women’s Volleyball Association (NEWVA) All-New England selection, and a three-time All-New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) selection. Brickley is one of four players in volleyball program history to amass 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. At the time of induction, Brickley ranks 2nd all-time in Kills (1,257), 5th all-time in Digs (1,212) and 6th all-time in attack percentage (.216). She holds the Trinity College record for kills per set with 4.2.
As a member of the women’s basketball team, Brickley averaged 10.5 points per game. She was named All-NESCAC First-Team and NEWBA All-Regional First-team. She was named NESCAC Player of the Year for basketball her senior year at Trinity. Off the court, Brickley was a 2013 CoSIDA Academic All-American and a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection. She was the class Salutatorian and Capital One Academic All-American.
Brickley had previously been inducted into the Melrose Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015, following a record-breaking career there in volleyball and basketball, where she holds several records and was a multiyear All Scholastic and earned Player of the Year honors. Her high school coach Scott Celli summed up her career there. “Hannah is the best volleyball player ever at MHS, a great leader, and a fearless competitor, simply the best.”
Her coach at Trinity, Jennifer Bowman, saluted Brickley for her career. “As a player, Hannah was steady and reliable and the hardest worker you could ever ask for. She made everyone around her better.”
At the banquet Brickley thanked her friends and family. “I’m truly honored to be inducted into this class of amazing athletes.”
In a fitting note, Brickley joins her father George in the Trinity Athletic Hall of Fame, as he was inducted in 2019 for his great hockey career. Her mother Cindy also played multiple sports at Trinity, making athletic achievement at this college a family affair.
