WAKEFIELD — Justyn R. (Jelercic) Pretnar of Wakefield and formerly of Cleveland, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 11, at age 102.
Justyn was a strong and creative woman. She sewed many projects she designed, and practiced traditional decorative arts like quilting, quilling, and tole painting. Her work won awards at the Topsfield Fair and other competitions.
Justyn also collected and restored salvaged antiques. She was an active member of the Wakefield Senior Center and was a lifelong member of the Progressive Slovene Women of America Circle 7 and the Slovenian National Art Guild in Cleveland Ohio.
She attended Mass at St. Patrick Parish.
Justyn was the beloved wife of the late John A. Pretnar. She was the loving mother of Judy Potts, Robert Pretnar and his wife, Marilyn (deceased), John Dean Pretnar and his wife Connie. The loving grandmother of Jaymie Wolfe, David Pretnar, Debbie Pretnar, Denise (Pretnar) Gorski, Joshua Pretnar, and Jason Pretnar, Justyn was the cherished great-grandmother of 15 and great-great-grandmother of 11.
The funeral will be from the Barile Family Funeral Home, 482 Main St. (Route 28), Stoneham, on Monday, February 20, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central St., Stoneham at 10 a.m.
Family and friends are kindly invited to gather and share memories with the family on Sunday, February 19, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Parking attendants and elevator available
