LYNNFIELD — Registration is now open for the 48th annual Lynnfield Athletic Association Fourth of July 5K Road Race.
The race is on Saturday, July 4, beginning at 9 a.m. It starts and finishes at the Lynnfield Town Hall, 55 Summer St. The route will take runners down Summer Street, right on to Walnut street, left on to Thomas Road, left onto Summer street and back to Town Hall.
All proceeds benefit athletic programs and provide scholarships for Lynnfield High School students.
In addition to awarding several athletic scholarships to graduating seniors each year, the LAA provides other financial support by providing things such as uniforms, athletic equipment, pins and trophies given out during the year to student athletes.
Townspeople can register for the road race online through Coolrunning.com or active.com ($15 for 16 and under, $20 for 17 and older). Race day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. ($20 for 16 and under and $25 for 17 and older).
