ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — On Jan. 4, 2015, M. Louise (Lou) duFault, beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at age 97 in Albuquerque, N.M., where she had lived and worked for many years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Alma and Vertume Dufault of Wakefield, eight brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sister, Sr. Alma Dufault of Fruithill, North Providence, R.I., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lou was born in Saco, Maine. She was a graduate of Wakefield High School (1936) and Forsyth School of Dental Hygienists.
Lou served in the U.S. Army Women’s Army Corps (WAC) from 1942-1945; during that period, she was stationed in New Guinea and Manila. After the war, Lou lived and worked in Vermont and then in the Boston area, before moving to New Mexico to take on new challenges.
She worked for the State of New Mexico Department of Dental Health, helping to establish and service dental care clinics throughout the state. She was a professor at the University of New Mexico in its dental hygiene programs until her retirement.
Services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Albuquerque at a later time, with a full military burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M., where one of her brothers, Joseph Dufault, also formerly of Wakefield, is interred.
