Had 14 great–grandchildren
PEABODY — Maria T. (Amorim) Gaspar of Peabody, formerly of Somerville, died Sept. 9 at the age 88. She was the devoted wife of the late Francisco P. Gaspar. She was the loving mother of Adrian Gaspar and his wife Connie, Cidalia “Sandy” Shute and her husband Francis, Martin Gaspar and his wife Maria, Amy Kopchell and her husband Mark, Camille Ernest and her husband Paul, Gloria Gaspar and her partner Nikolaj Wendt and the late Laudalina and Lucia “Lucy” Gaspar. She was the beloved sister of Virginia Simas and the late Leonilde Sousa and Joao Amorim and the grandmother of 14 grandchildren and 13 great–grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
Her funeral was held from the Rogers Funeral Home, 380 Cambridge St., Cambridge, on Sept. 13, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church in Cambridge. Maria was a member of Our Lady of Fatima, Holy Ghost Society and the Senior Center, all in Peabody. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh St., Peabody, MA 01960.
