WAKEFIELD — Mary (Petrillo) Olivieri, 96, a lifelong Wakefield resident, died on Thursday, July 6, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.
Born in Wakefield on January 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Agostino and Assunda (Frada) Petrillo.
Mary attended Wakefield schools and raised her family while working at Maryland Sandal and Transitron Electronics. Later in life she spent time volunteering at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital while enjoying her leisure hours reading and watching her beloved Red Sox.
She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very passionately and spent many happy hours looking after them, having sleepovers and attending recitals and soccer games.
Mary was the beloved wife of the late Alfred Olivieri and the loving mother of Barbara Joyce of Wakefield and her beloved son Alfred Olivieri Jr., who preceded her in death.
She came from a large family of seven brothers and sisters: Anthony Petrillo, Augustine Petrillo, Frederick Petrillo, Frank Petrillo, Josephine Montuori, Phyllis Roberto and Florence Weaver, who all preceded her in death.
Along with her daughter Barbara, Mary is survived by her grandchildren Lisa Jacquard and Richard Joyce, both of Wakefield, Jason Olivieri of Haverhill and Michael Olivieri of Manchester, NH.; her four great grandchildren Brittany Jacquard, Nicole Jacquard, Christopher Joyce and Jason Olivieri Jr., and her great great grandchildren Cameron Michelson and Lucas Michelson as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mary’s funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Tuesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
