MELROSE — The following is a release from the Melrose School Committee.
“The Melrose School Committee is proud to announce that Mr. Adam Deleidi has been selected as the next Superintendent of Schools. Mr. Deleidi has verbally accepted the Committee’s offer, pending final contract negotiations, and his term is set to begin on July 1, 2024.
“Mr. Deleidi, a resident of Wakefield, currently serves as the Deputy Superintendent of the Chelsea Public Schools. A career educator with expansive experience in the Commonwealth, he has previously served in Revere, Saugus and Chelsea as a middle school mathematics teacher, an instructional coach, an elementary school principal and a district-wide assistant superintendent of student services.
“Following a lengthy and thorough hiring process, which included numerous opportunities for community input and participation, the Melrose School Committee deliberated on a strong group of three finalists on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 and voted to appoint Mr. Deleidi, who impressed the Committee with his strong teaching and learning expertise, articulation of core values, grasp of key priorities for the District, and enthusiasm for joining the Melrose schools community.
“Chair Margaret Driscoll said, ‘The Committee is delighted to welcome Mr. Deleidi to our school family to share the joy of learning experienced every day in our schools, and lead an ever-evolving instructional landscape in our beautiful city that builds on our many traditions and practices in a hopeful, innovative, and sustainable way.’
“Mr. Deleidi expressed his excitement for coming to Melrose, saying, ‘I am elated to be
appointed as Superintendent-Elect for Melrose Public Schools. I look forward to getting to work and getting to know this vibrant and passionate community. I would also like to acknowledge all
of the hard work and dedication that went into the search process. It is a true indication of the
commitment of so many in the Melrose community.’
“The School Committee sincerely thanks the Melrose educators, administrators, students, families, and community members who engaged in this hiring process and provided feedback on the candidates. The Committee anticipates providing further updates to the community at its next meeting on Tuesday, December 19, 2023.”
