NORTH READING — The last weekly summer BBQ and entertainment series at Ipswich River Park slated for Wednesday, July 31 showcases the Flying High Frisbee Dogs. This high-energy show features the amazing acrobatics of Australian shepherds and their trainer.
The BBQ starts at 5 p.m. and the dog show follows at 5:15 p.m.
There will be plenty of opportunities for audience members both young and old alike to interact with these friendly pups and also participate in several of the games they play too.
The dog show is sponsored by Reading Coop Bank, which for numerous years has sponsored each of the children’s shows while providing different surprise giveaways to the youngsters each week.
From 6 p.m. to dusk, enjoy the rock-n-roll tunes played by The Rampage Trio, whose appearance is sponsored by Francine Coughlin’s Bark-N-Roll and BnR Rock-N-Rescue.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own picnic supper and also enjoy some a la carte BBQ fare, which includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers and hotdogs cooked to order, watermelon slices, chips, cold drinks and ice cream. Cash is king here as it is the only form of currency accepted, so stop at the ATM beforehand.
Run by the Friends of North Reading Parks and Recreation, the weekly summer concerts, children’s entertainers and BBQ’s in the park have been a staple of family fun at IRP for decades while providing much-needed financial resources to benefit the upkeep and enhancement of the park itself.
As a side note, last week’s rock and blues band, the White Street Band, was sponsored by Salon 77. Additionally, Stop & Shop donated the bread served at the BBQs this summer.
