Loved doing arts and crafts and was an avid reader

ZEPHYRHILLS, Florida — Edna M. Smith (MacLeod) passed away in Zephyrhills, Florida, on February 26, 2023.

Born in Lynn in 1936, she was the daughter of Murrel A. and Ella L. (Wilkins) Beherrell.

Edna grew up and was educated in Lynnfield and graduated from Wakefield High in 1954.

She was married to her husband Donald G. MacLeod, Jr., in 1955 and moved to North Reading in 1956 where she lived until 2008.

In 2008 she moved to Haverhill and married Edward Smith in 2009. They remained in Haverhill until 2012 when they moved to Zephyrhills, Florida.

Edna worked for J.J. Newberry in her teens, and in her adult life, she worked for C&W transportation transporting children with special needs to and from school. She also worked as a store clerk in a local store, and did bookkeeping and clerical work for Kirkwood Nursing Home in Wakefield

Edna enjoyed doing arts and crafts with family and friends, was an avid reader, a worthy opponent in Words with Friends, and her Friday night card game with friends. She also enjoyed traveling around New England, enjoying trips to the mountains in New Hampshire, and traveling the Maine coast, with a special fondness for Nubble Lighthouse in York. She also enjoyed traveling around her home state of Florida.

Edna is survived by her husband, Edward Smith, daughter and son-in-law, Deb and Paul Jenkins, of Ossipee, N.H.; sister Carol Beal of Zephyrhills, as well as several nieces and nephews, cousins, and her grand dogs Lilly and Sadie. She was predeceased by her husband, Donald G. MacLeod Jr., her son-in-law, David Osgood, her parents, Murrel and Ella Beherrell, in-laws, Donald G. and Elizabeth MacLeod Sr., her sister, Joan Jones, and her grandson, Jeremy Osgood.

A service will be held at the Union Congregational Church, North Reading on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 11 a.m.

Burial services will be private.
