NORTH READING — The Town Clerk’s Office is now in the process of mailing out ballots for the Tuesday, November 3 Presidential Election. Ballots are being mailed in the order of receipt of applications.

“There is ample time to vote-by-mail; please be patient as we process these for all applications currently on file. Voters may continue to submit an application to vote-by-mail up through October 28, however the sooner an application is received, the sooner the ballot will be mailed,” Town Clerk Barbara Stats told the Transcript Tuesday.

“All vote-by-mail ballots must be sealed in the affidavit envelope enclosed with the ballot, which must be signed by the voter; if the affidavit envelope is not signed by the voter, it cannot be counted,” she emphasized.

Ballots can be mailed back in the postage-paid envelope provided or brought directly to the Town Hall and deposited in the dedicated ballot drop box located at the front entrance to the Town Hall. (This is a clearly marked box with red and white stripes.) All ballots deposited in the ballot drop box must be received no later than 8 p.m. on election evening. (The box will be locked at 8 p.m. on election night.) Ballots that are mailed must be postmarked by November 3 and delivered to the Town Clerk’s Office no later than Friday, November 6.
