HANSON — Paul E. Beckstrom, 71, of Hanson passed away peacefully Sunday April 29, 2018. Paul’s wife Joyce, was by his side with his close friends Arthur and Darlene Zahn holding his hands.

The only child of the late Ellsworth and Mildred Beckstrom, Paul was born in Boston on June 5, 1946. He was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grammar School in Jamaica Plain and a 1964 graduate of English High School in Boston. Paul served in the US Navy from 1964 to 1968 as an Aviation Electronics Technician. He rejoined the Navy in the 1970’s and was stationed at the Weymouth Naval Air Station. Paul was employed by New England Telephone in the 1970’s and 35 years later retired from Verizon as an Equipment and Installation Supervisor.

Encouraged at an early age by his father, Paul raised poultry and rabbits and gardened for his hobbies. He learned to work hard at an early age and would spend weekends delivering groceries from his father’s store, Watson’s Market on Bowdoin Street in Dorchester. Summers were spent at his beloved camp in Carlisle. One time he walked there from Jamaica Plain with Arthur at an early age.  Paul lost his son Michael in 2013.

Paul is survived by his high school sweetheart, Joyce (Rogers) Driscoll-Beckstrom. He is also survived by his son Steven Beckstrom, his daughter Tonya and son-in-law Steve Tsolias, Eric Beckstrom, granddaughters Katie Beckstrom, Stephanie Bezanson, Christy Beckstrom, grandson Randy Beckstrom, of Hanson and granddaughters Sarah and Lexi Beckstrom of Taunton. Also survived by two stepchildren, Christine Driscoll and Peter Driscoll of Wakefield. 

Visiting hours in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 2 Maquan St, at the corner of Route 14 and 58 in Hanson on Friday from 4-7 p.m. A service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 12 noon.
