Always the life of the party with a great laugh and brilliant smile
WAKEFIELD — Mary Jane Tropeano Brosnahan died suddenly October 4, at Winchester Hospital.
Born July 1, 1939 to the late Benjamin and Jeannette Tropeano, Mary grew up in Wakefield and maintained meaningful friendships in the community her entire life. Mary, always the life of the party, could be easily recognized by her remarkable laugh and brilliant smile. A stranger to no one, Mary made the people around her feel loved and energized by her presence.
Mary’s love for life was contagious and shared by her family including her late companion Alfred (Desi) DeSimone, daughter Lisa McGovern Goodhue and her husband Paul, son Michael McGovern, daughter Louise Hamilton and her husband Barry. Mary was the grandmother of Ericka Worobey, Jessica Hamilton and Maryann McGovern, and the great-grandmother of Sophia Julien. Mary is also survived by her brother David Tropeano and his wife Susan, and was predeceased by her brother Benjamin Tropeano and his wife Jean. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mary could be found taking a quick trip to the casinos, spending time shopping, on lunch dates with her girls, or spending time with family. Many will miss her often hilarious recounting of a story with a detail or two just slightly restated to create a famous Mary-ism! Her light will continue to shine bright in all who knew and loved her.
Friends and family are welcome to join the family at her Funeral Mass at St. Florence Catholic Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield on Monday at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Mary’s favorite charity The National MS Society (nationalmssociety.org).
Arrangements are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home in Wakefield.
