BOSTON — Robert J. “Bob” Pinkney, 53, of Boston and formerly of Melrose, died at home on Sept. 14.

Bob was born in Malden, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1980.

He resided and worked as a waiter for several restaurants in California and New York City for many years and the past 10 years in Boston.

Bob loved old movies, traveling and was a great cook. He enjoyed the beach, the ocean and living in the city.

Bob was the loving son of Robert and Deborah (Mountford) Pinkney of Londonderry, N.H. He was the caring brother of Deborah Pinkney of New Hampshire, Gail Pinkney, Jon Pinkney and his wife Sheri, all of Wakefield, David Pinkney of Malden, Daniel Pinkney of New York and Karen Pinkney of New Hampshire. He was the cherished uncle of Adam, Jenna, Melissa, Tammy and Cody. He was the nephew of Patricia Buchan of Melrose.

A funeral service will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 West Foster St., Melrose, on Saturday, Sept. 20, at 1:30 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.

Visiting hours prior to the service from noon to 1:30 p.m. Burial in Wyoming Cemetery, Melrose.
