Wakefield native was avid gardener, handyman

SOUTH BOSTON — Nunzio P. Roberto, 92, of South Boston and formerly of Wakefield, died Friday, Nov. 6, in South Boston.
Born in Wakefield in 1917, he was the beloved son of the late John J. and Mary (Santoro) and Amelia (Ippolito) Roberto.
He had been a longtime Boston resident and had worked for the former L.B. Evans Shoe Company of Wakefield, the former Hotel Statler of Boston and the Gillette Corporation of Boston.
He was also an avid gardener and handyman.
Mr. Roberto is survived by his sister Elizabeth Steele of Newton and his two brothers, George “Tim” Roberto and John J. Roberto Jr., both of Wakefield. He was also the brother of the late Angelo and Arthur “Butch” Roberto, Augustino Cardavelli and Alfred Roberto. He is predeceased by his life companion Mary O’Brien. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
The Roberto family would like to thank the staff of the “Compass on the Bay” Nursing Facility of South Boston for their years of care for Nunzio.
Funeral services will be private and are in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home.
