MELROSE — Cathy L. Pickens-Nagle, 66, of Melrose, passed away on Dec. 17.
Cathy was born in Melrose on May 28, 1950 to Luman and Dorothea (Curtis) Pickens. She was raised in Melrose and graduated from Melrose High School in 1968.
Following high school Cathy started “Cathy’s Studio” in Melrose. She ran her dance studio out of multiple locations throughout Melrose over the years. Cathy also started the community theater group “Theatre II,” which she ran for 10 years; many of their productions were held at Memorial Hall in Melrose.
Cathy was a very talented dancer, teacher, choreographer and director. She had a passion for dancing and theater and loved sharing her talents with her students.
Cathy enjoyed the summertime and would spend a lot of time sitting by the pool or at Nahant Beach. She would always take her children to Nahant Beach in the summer, especially for the Fourth of July.
Cathy also liked traveling to New Orleans, Newfound Lake, Jamaica and New York to see Broadway shows. She even spent a summer living in Jamaica.
Cathy had a kind soul and touched everyone she met in some way. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Cathy was the loving mother of Stephanie Nagle of Lowell, Curtis Nagle of Melrose, Liza Nagle of Lowell and Kyle Nagle of Melrose. She was the caring sister of Lauria Currier and her husband Herbert of Melrose and the late Luman “Brother” Pickens.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
