WAKEFIELD — John A. “Jack” Duffy, 75, of Wakefield died Thursday, Dec. 25, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Born in Chelsea on March 26, 1939 he was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Floor) Duffy.
Jack was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Vietnam era.
He was a retired longtime employee of the Malden Trust Company, where he had served many years in both the Malden and Stoneham offices.
Jack enjoyed golf and was an active member of the Bear Hill Golf Club. He was also involved in the Malden Lions Club where he had been a member and former treasurer and was a volunteer for Eliot Community Human Services of Lexington.
Jack was the beloved husband of Ann M. (McNicholas). He was the father of Kathryn Duffy and her fiancé Michael Saviano of Buzzards Bay, Donna M. Carpenter and her husband Kevin of Illinois and John E. Duffy and his wife Ayumi of Japan. He was the brother of Joan Harding and her late husband Walter of Malden. He was the grandfather of four: Michelle, John, Patrick and Matthew and a great-grandfather of three. He is also survived by his niece Karen DeJoie and her family.
Jack’s funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Wednesday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 o’clock.
Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield.
