WAKEFIELD — Joseph S. Bonomo, 79, of Wakefield died Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at his home.
Born in Wakefield on Sept. 30, 1935 he was the son of the late Joseph and Angelina (Mocciaro) Bonomo.
Mr. Bonomo was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1955. He had worked for Perini Construction Company for 25 years and was a foreman for the Marine Division and was a member of Local #56. He later worked for the Wakefield DPW for 10 years before his retirement. Mr. Bonomo had been a member of the Crystal Community Club and was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to garden.
Mr. Bonomo was the beloved husband of Claire M. (Cummings) Bonomo for 57 years. He was the loving father of Laurie A. Hartnett and her husband John of Toms River, N.J. and Jeanne M. Ford of Woburn. He was the brother of Anthony R. Bonomo and his wife Sylvia or Wakefield, Koni Jaworski of Andover and the late John N. Bonomo. Brother-in-law of Lawrence Cummings. He was the adoring grandfather of Daniel Hartnett and John Hartnett Jr. and Nicholas and Jenny Lee Ford.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave. on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave. at 10 a.m. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 30 from 1 to 5 p.m. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery in Wakefield.
