WAKEFIELD — Matthew G. Silvano, 27, of Wakefield died on Thursday, Oct. 28, at his residence after a courageous 18 month battle with colon cancer.
Born in Melrose on Dec. 17, 1988, he was the beloved son of David M. and Marcella (Muse) Silvano of Wakefield.
Matthew was raised in Wakefield and was a graduate of Wakefield Memorial High School and Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational School. He was a licensed electrician for Driscoll Electrical in Medford.
Matthew enjoyed fishing, boating and camping along the Saco River in Maine.
In addition to his parents, Matthew is survived by his brother Michael D. Silvano and his sister Michaila L. Silvano of Wakefield. He was the grandson of Arthur and Winifred Silvano, John K. and Carol Muse of Wakefield and William High and the late Della M. High. He is also survived by his longtime girlfriend Heather Young and his lifelong friend Patrick Downey.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Thursday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Joseph Church, 173 Albion St., Wakefield at 10 a.m. Interment will be at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m.
