Longtime resident was a nurse

WAKEFIELD — Muriel Ann Holleran, 80, of Wakefield died Wednesday, August 9, at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Muriel was born in Boston on November 5, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Dr. John H. Holleran and Muriel (Desousa) Holleran.
Muriel was raised in Wakefield and was a longtime Wakefield resident. She was a graduate of Notre Dame Academy and also of Boston College School of Nursing. She had worked as a nurse at Boston City Hospital and Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
Muriel was a member of St. Joseph Church; she loved reading and animals, especially the dogs she raised.
She was the sister of Gerald C. Holleran of Wakefield, Edward P. Holleran of Michigan, and the late John H. Holleran Jr. She was the aunt of Sherri Freeman, Jill Holleran, John Holleran III, Jimmy Holleran, Kristin Dussault, Gerald Holleran Jr., Brian Holleran, Kevin Holleran, Patrick Holleran, Amy Gibbs, Beth Ryan, Alexander Holleran and Abrielle Holleran. She is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Muriel was laid to rest in a private family ceremony on Friday, August 11, at Forest Glade Cemetery in Wakefield. Funeral arrangements were in the care of McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
