THE GREENWOOD SCHOOL 4th Grade Student Council was busy getting their flowering whiskey barrels ready for summer! Council members are Ryan Carroll, Spencer Little, Summer Milksy, Jillian Schwartzberg, Molly Berinato and Evan Zeltsar. On Tuesday, June 16, they removed all the pansies and prepared the barrels for the pink ivy geraniums and snowflake. They learned how to remove the plants from their containers. Also they learned that placing the plant in different positions in the barrel creates a different look for those walking by the barrels. Deadheading the geraniums was their next step so that the new shoots will grow. They planted the snowflake in the front of each barrel so that it will cascade down as the season progresses. Last step was watering and feeding the plants. Capone Landscape donated the plants and assisted the children with this activity.
