DANVERS — Rae Nicola Melville Duthie Green, 93, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018.  She was born on April 10, 1924. Her daughters Nicola Green Lerner and Betsy Green Doucette and her son Thomas H. Green III were at her side.

Born in Cruden Bay, Scotland, Mrs. Green came to the United States in 1927 when her father became head golf professional at the Wianno Club on Cape Cod. For the majority of her adult life Mrs. Green lived and raised her family in Wakefield. After her husband , Dr. Thomas H. Green, Jr., died, Mrs. Green returned to Cape Cod in 1981. She lived in Osterville for many years, before moving to Brookdale Assisted Living facilities, first in Hyannis, then in Danvers.

An avid golfer, Mrs. Green was an active member at both Bear Hill and Wianno. At age 83 she won the Wianno Club’s 9-hole Ladies Club Championship. A Registered Nurse, Mrs. Green earned her nursing degree from the Deaconess School of Nursing in Boston and served on the nursing staff at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Later, she worked as a Samaritans volunteer and as a nursing volunteer for many years at Cape Cod Hospital. Known for her outgoing personality and wit, Mrs. Green always enjoyed noting that she was destined to become a nurse and to marry a doctor because her maiden initials were RNMD.

In addition to her son and daughters, Mrs. Green is survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial services for Mrs. Green will be private.
