WAKEFIELD — Robert F. “Bob” Young, 80, died peacefully Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his home.
Born in Melrose on June 4, 1938 he was the son of the late Robert F. and Dorothea (Velmure) Young.
Bob was raised in Malden and was a graduate of Malden High School, Class of 1957. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1959-1961. Following his time in the Army, Bob joined the Local 6 Union out of Boston and worked as an industrial insulator until his retirement in 1992. In 1978, he and his late wife Karen (True) settled in Wakefield. After his retirement, Bob enjoyed many hobbies, including sport and antique cars and he belonged to car clubs where he met many friends.
He was the husband of the late Karen True Young. He was the father of Robert F. Young and his wife Lisa of Wakefield, Gregory P. Young and his wife Lisa of Everett, Michael A. Young of Manchester, N.H. and Marc D. Young and his wife Mary of Wakefield. He was the brother of the late Donald Young. He is also survived by his nine grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private. Arrangements in the care of the McDonald Funeral Home, Wakefield.
