WAKEFIELD — Royce F. Dewar, 84, of Wakefield, died Tuesday, March 24, at Wingate of Reading.
Born in Stoneham on July 1, 1930, he was the son of the late Royce R. and Nellie (Schnare) Dewar.
Royce was raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1948, and had been a Wakefield resident since 1957.
He had served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was a machinist and retired from a career at Transitron in Wakefield. His hobbies were his love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time with his wife at Myrtle Beach.
Royce was the beloved husband of the late Ruth (Gutro) Dewar. He was the loving father of Cynthia Bornstein and her husband Steven of Methuen and the late Richard R. Dewar. He was the brother of Barbara Potts of Enfield, Conn. He is also survived by his four grandchildren: Jacqueline, Jason, Richard Jr. and Sean; and two great-grandchildren, Braiden and Kyleigh.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave., Wakefield on Friday at 11:30 a.m. with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody.
