WAKEFIELD — Stephen L. Putnam, 74, of Wakefield passed away Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital.
He was born in Plymouth on March 2, 1942 and was the son of the late Eleanor Putnam.
Stephen was a lifelong Wakefield resident, and was a graduate of Wakefield High School, Class of 1960. He was a retired exterminator, most recently working for Terminix. Stephen was a big Boston sports fan, enjoyed golfing at the Lynnfield Center Golf Course, and bowling in the Wakefield Bowladrome League. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was the beloved husband of Sheila (Haladay) Putnam. He was the loving father of Stephen L. Putnam, Jr. and his fiancée Kerrie Kenyon of Salem. He was the brother-in-law of Jim and Jean Yentile, John and Suellen Haladay, Don and Mary Mueller, all of Wakefield and Patti Haladay and Elizabeth Pritzker, both of California. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Stephen’s funeral will be held from the McDonald Funeral Home, 19 Yale Ave, Wakefield on Monday at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Florence Church, 47 Butler Ave., Wakefield at 10 o’clock. Visitation for relatives and friends will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday at 1-4 p.m.
