MALDEN — William T. “Bill” Turner, 69, of Malden and formerly of Melrose, died at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Oct. 17.
Bill was born in Stoneham, raised in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School, Class of 1963. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After returning from Vietnam, Bill resided in Melrose and then in Malden for the past 28 years.
He worked as a film processor for Polaroid for 25 years.
Bill was a former member of the V.F.W. Harold O. Young Post #2394 in Melrose and also the V.F.W. Post #639 in Malden. He was an avid reader and sports fan and enjoyed reading the daily paper. Bill loved the Boston Red Sox, playing Keno and going to Foxwoods.
He was the loving son of the late William and Margaret (Lynch) Turner. He was the caring brother of Patricia Horgan and her late husband Gerard of Dedham, Susan DeCaprio and her husband John of Bedford, Marjorie Novak and her husband Arthur of Georgia, Mary Lou Weber of New Hampshire, Robert E. Turner of Melrose and the late Sheila Toland and her late husband Paul. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Oct. 20, in St. Mary Church, Herbert Street, Melrose at 10 a.m. There were no visiting hours.
